Project Description:

The IoT Smart Gym Equipment Usage Tracker is an intelligent system designed to monitor gym equipment usage in real-time using IoT sensors. It tracks how often and how long each machine is used, logs individual user sessions, and sends usage data to a centralized dashboard. This system benefits both gym owners (for maintenance and analytics) and gym-goers (for personal fitness tracking).

It can be integrated with smart gym equipment (like treadmills, bikes, weight machines) and can identify individual users via RFID or mobile app login.


Core Objective:

To build a smart fitness management system that improves equipment utilization, ensures timely maintenance, and provides users with personalized usage statistics for their fitness progress.


Key Features:

  1.  Equipment Usage Detection:

    • Detects start, stop, and duration of equipment usage using motion or pressure sensors.

  2. User Identification:

    • Users log in via RFID/NFC cards or mobile app with QR scanning.

    • Session data is tied to individual profiles.

  3.  Real-Time Dashboard:

    • Gym admins can view which machines are in use, idle, or due for maintenance.

    • Heatmaps of usage frequency.

  4.  Personal Workout Analytics:

    • Tracks number of reps, usage time, and calories (based on equipment).

    • Daily/weekly/monthly reports for users.

  5.  Maintenance Alerts:

    • Sends alerts to gym staff when machines exceed usage thresholds.

    • Helps schedule preventive maintenance.

  6.  Reservation System (Optional):

    • Allows users to book gym equipment in advance via the app.

  7.  Web Access:

    • Gym members and admins can access their dashboards from any device.
