Overview:

The Public CCTV Access Map is a web application that displays the real-time or last-captured locations of public CCTV cameras on an interactive city map. This tool is intended for transparency and public safety, allowing citizens, law enforcement, and local authorities to view CCTV coverage areas, request footage, or monitor key zones.

This project involves maps integration, camera data handling, user management, and optionally, video playback or screenshot display.

Technologies Used:

• Frontend: HTML, CSS, Bootstrap, JavaScript, Leaflet.js or Google Maps API

• Backend: Node.js / PHP / Java (Spring Boot)

• Database: MySQL / MongoDB

• Optional: OpenCV (for snapshot processing), WebRTC (for live stream), REST APIs

User Roles:

1. General Public: View CCTV map and location info

2. Admin / Municipality Officer: Add/manage CCTV locations, respond to footage requests

3. Law Enforcement (Optional): Privileged access to live feeds or archived footage

Key Features:

1. Interactive Map Display:

• Visual map with pins showing CCTV camera locations

• Camera icons change color/status (e.g., active/inactive)

• Clicking on a camera shows last image or live stream (if available)

2. Camera Details Modal:

• Camera ID, location, direction angle, and status

• View last-captured image or footage

• Link to request full footage if needed

3. Footage Request Form:

• Citizens can request footage for specific date/time/location

• Request status tracking and admin panel for approvals

• Option to upload incident details or supporting documents

4. Admin Panel:

• Add or update camera locations (with coordinates)

• Upload or manage snapshots/video URLs

• Accept/reject public footage requests

5. Search & Filter:

• Filter by area, camera status (live/offline), or date of last capture

• Search by street name or nearby landmarks

6. Security & Access Control:

• Public users see limited data (no live feed for sensitive areas)

• Law enforcement access protected by login

• Audit trail for access to footage

Security Features:

• User authentication with role-based access

• Secure video/image links (expiring tokens)

• Encrypted database for sensitive location metadata
